Stainless Steel 317L Sheets and Plates contain 18–20% chromium, 11–15% nickel, and 3–4% molybdenum, along with low carbon content below 0.03% to prevent carbide precipitation during welding. Small additions of manganese, silicon, and nitrogen enhance strength and corrosion resistance. The alloy offers a tensile strength of around 515 MPa, yield strength of approximately 205 MPa, and elongation of about 40%. Its improved resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and chemical attack makes 317L suitable for harsh, chloride-rich, and acidic environments.
