The typical composition of SS 409 includes approximately 10.5–11.75% Chromium (Cr), 0.08% Carbon (C), 0.75% Manganese (Mn), 1.00% Silicon (Si), 0.03% Phosphorus (P), and 0.03% Sulfur (S). This composition provides good weldability and formability. The mechanical properties of SS 409 include a tensile strength of 480 MPa, yield strength of 205 MPa, and elongation of 15%. It has a hardness of 190–250 HV and is commonly used in exhaust systems, automotive, and industrial applications.
